Costa Rica has launched a campaign aimed at dissuading people from taking animal selfies. The practice was banned in the country more than 10 years ago, but a recent study by the charity, World Animal Protection, suggests large numbers of selfies involving wild animals are still being taken. The authorities in Costa Rica want to encourage visitors to have their photos taken with a stuffed toy instead, and then post the pictures online adding a comment that they don’t take pictures with real animals. Shirley Ramirez Carvajal is a wildlife biologist working on the campaign.
